Day 1 – Alfama & downtown

  • Tram 28 (or walk)
  • São Jorge Castle (views)
  • Alfama streets and Fado
Ride Tram 28 (start early to avoid queues) or walk up through Alfama. Visit São Jorge for views. Lunch in Alfama. Afternoon: Baixa and Rossio. Evening: Fado dinner in Alfama.
Tips:

Tram 28: go early or walk. Wear good shoes; streets are steep and cobbled.

Day 2 – Belém

  • Jerónimos Monastery
  • Belém Tower
  • Pastéis de Belém
Take tram or train to Belém. Morning: Jerónimos (book ahead). Walk to Belém Tower. Lunch: pastéis de Belém at the famous bakery. Afternoon: Discoveries Monument and riverside. Return to centre for dinner.
Tips:

Book Jerónimos online. Queue at Pastéis de Belém is often worth it; go mid-morning or afternoon.

Day 3 – Bairro Alto & Chiado

  • Chiado shopping and cafés
  • Bairro Alto viewpoints
  • Last views and food
Morning in Chiado: browse and café. Walk up to Bairro Alto for viewpoints. Last lunch and perhaps a miradouro. Transfer to airport or station.
Tips:

Leave 30–45 minutes for airport if flying from Lisbon. Save time for one more pastel de nata.
