Day 1 – Colosseum & Roman Forum

  • Colosseum
  • Roman Forum and Palatine
  • Evening in Monti or Centro
Book Colosseum + Forum in advance. Morning at the Colosseum, then Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Lunch nearby. Afternoon: rest or short walk. Evening in Monti or near Via Cavour.
Tips:

Book the first slot to avoid heat and crowds. Allow 3–4 hours for all three.

Day 2 – Vatican

  • Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel
  • St Peter's Basilica
Full morning at Vatican Museums (book ahead); end at Sistine Chapel. St Peter's (free; go early or late to shorten queue). Lunch in Borgo or Prati. Afternoon: Castel Sant'Angelo or rest. Evening in Prati or Trastevere.
Tips:

Vatican: book online, go when it opens. Dress modestly for St Peter's.

Day 3 – Historic centre

  • Trevi Fountain
  • Pantheon
  • Piazza Navona
  • Spanish Steps
Morning: Trevi (early for fewer people), then Pantheon (free; quick visit). Lunch near Piazza Navona. Afternoon: Piazza Navona and Spanish Steps. Gelato and passeggiata. Evening in Campo de' Fiori or Trastevere.
Tips:

Do Trevi and Pantheon early. Wear comfortable shoes; lots of walking.

Day 4 – Trastevere & departure

  • Trastevere streets and food
  • Last sights or shopping
Morning in Trastevere: wander and early lunch. Last-minute shopping or one more sight. Transfer to FCO or Ciampino (allow 1–1.5 hours from centre).
Tips:

Book airport transfer or shuttle. Trastevere is perfect for a long lunch.
